ARTIST CHAZZ DIXON ANNOUNCES 19TH STUDIO ALBUM ‘YOU SHOULD BE HERE’
Acclaimed independent singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Chazz Dixon has officially announced the release of his highly anticipated 19th full studio album, You Should Be Here, arriving on July 31, 2026.
Written, produced, and arranged in its entirety by Dixon (with exceptions noted), the substantial 14-track project stands as a vibrant, deeply personal tribute to the legendary songwriters, performers, and musical giants of the 1960s golden era.
The emotional heart of the album was born directly from Dixon’s recent single, "Never Gonna Give You Up."Originally penned by Chicago soul icon Jerry Butler alongside the legendary songwriting duo Gamble and Huff of Philadelphia’s "Mighty Three" production group, the track served as a deeply personal recording experience for Dixon. When Butler passed away, that specific musical memory became the creative catalyst for this entire reflective effort.
Using "Never Gonna Give You Up" as the foundational cornerstone of the tracklist, Dixon set out to build a sonic monument. The album masterfully balances the past and present, pairing 6 brand new original compositions written entirely by Dixon with brilliant, jazz-infused interpretations of timeless classics. Among the covers are The Monkees' "Forget That Girl," Henry Mancini's masterpiece "Moon River," Teddy Randazzo’s "Goin' Out of My Head" (written for Little Anthony and the Imperials), and the legendary Motown staple "Ooo Baby Baby" by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. Dixon also delivers deeply moving tributes to Chicago soul giants The Chi-Lites and Major Lance.
Driven by pristine, tight live rhythm arrangements, the record heavily features soaring trumpet, soulful saxophone, and rich keyboards—all anchored by Dixon's signature vocal arrangements. Adding to the album’s collaborative depth, tracks 11 and 12 showcase special guest arrangements and stellar performances alongside the exceptional Jeff Hegwood.
